Step Up and Become a Leader - Hope’s Cabinet
The cabinet is made up of the officers, Ministry Team leaders, and staff. Officers and Ministry Team Leaders usually serve two year terms. They are elected at the Congregational Meeting in January. Cabinet meetings are usually the first Sunday of each month and are open to all.
The nominations committee is currently looking for team leaders for the positions expiring in January 2010, listed below.
Financial Secretary - Oversees the counting of the weekly offering and other income. Responsible for making deposits of church funds and preparing quarterly pledge statements. Serves on the Cabinet and is a member of the church’s finance team.
Building & Grounds Ministry Team Leader - Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the church properties (church, parsonage). Coordinates regular “clean up” days and other activities relation to the church properties. Manages lawn care, janitorial, and snow removal contracts. Serves on the Cabinet.
Evangelism Ministry Team Leader - Oversees Hope Church’s outreach efforts through Evangelism Ministry Team. The team is responsible for reviewing and preparing brochures and newsletters, managing the church’s website, and providing initial outreach to visitors. Serves on the Cabinet.
Stewardship Ministry Team Leader - Oversees Hope Church’s stewardship activities. Works with Stewardship Ministry Team members on developing and running the annual pledge campaign, assists in preparing and distributing quarterly pledge statements. Serves on the Cabinet and is a member of the church’s finance team.
Deacon Ministry Team Leader - Oversees worship, hospitality, and pastoral care at Hope Church. Leads the ministry team, that in collaboration with the minister, church staff, and laity, plans weekly and special worship services. The Deacon Ministry Team assures that the Sanctuary is prepared for worship and Communion services, coordinates the weekly worship participants, and provides prayer and care to members of the community. Serves on the Cabinet and acts in the absence of the congregational president.
Nominations will be received through December 20, 2009. The Nominations Committee (Teri Doxsee, Marion Ekpuk, Doug James, Allison K-M, Harry Shepler will compile the slate of proposed officers, ministry team leaders, and deacons for approval at the Congregational Meeting on January 31, 2010. Leadership terms are two years in length (February 1, 2010 - January 31, 2012), the length of term for Deacon Ministry Ream members (deacons) are one or two years.
