Join a Ministry Team

Building & Grounds Team:

This ministry team maintains our building and grounds, including our sanctuary and parsonage, which we currently rent.  Do you like to do garden or yard work?  Are you handy, can you fix leaky toilets, sticky doors or change light bulbs?  If you are able to help in any of these ways, please contact building@hopeucc.org. The nominating committee is currently looking for a new leader for the buildings and ground committee.  Please contact Harry Shepler if you are interested.  Church work and clean-up days are held several times a year on Saturdays or Sundays.

Christian Education Team:

This team decides both the children’s and adult christian education offerings.  This includes classes on Sunday mornings, Camp Hope in the summer, and bible study and discussion groups for adults.  Are you interested in teaching a Sunday School class, helping with childcare, leading an adult bible study or helping with Camp Hope?  Contact Sarah Crisman if interested.  Christian Education ministry team meetings are generally on Sunday mornings after church.

Deacons Ministry:

The Deacons ministry team is concerned with the spiritual life of the congregation.   Along with the pastoral staff, the Deacons reflect on and oversee worship at Hope UCC. They help plan worship as well as do very specific things as assist with Communion and set up the sanctuary. They also reach out to friends and members through prayer and offer special care in times of crisis, loss, or death.   If you feel called to serve on the Deacons’ ministry team, please contact Marion Ekpuk. Deacons are nominated and confirmed by the congregation during our January congregational meeting. We are looking for several new Deacons as well as a new leader in January.   The Deacons meet the second Monday of the month.  We are currently seeking nominations for new Deacon Ministry Team Members.

Evangelism Team:

The Evangelism ministry team reaches out to the community to share the news of Hope.  Members of the Evangelism team maintain our Hope website, Facebook fan page and weekly eNewsletter.  The Evangelism team has several community outreach events each year,  including the Pride Parade and Festival in June and Art on the Avenue in October.  They also try to provide an extravagant welcome to all of our visitors.  If you are interested in any of these activities, please contact Teri Battles. The Evangelism team is a great place for new members and visitors because they are able to provide input about what brought them to Hope, their first impressions, and how we can improve our extravagant welcome.  The Evangelism team meets the third Tuesday of each month at church.

Missions Team:

Hope’s Mission ministry team informs our community of  mission opportunities both locally and globally.  If you are interested in working and organizing events  around local missions and/or global missions and social justice contact Pam Sheehan. The Mission’s ministry team meets the third Monday of each month at Pat Straw and Liza Hearn’s house.  Go to the Missions - Reach Out! page for information on our upcoming and most recent mision activities.

Financial Ministry Team:

Ann Ryan is our financial secretary.  She counts the offering plate each week.  Please contact Ann Ryan if you are interested in helping her count money after worship on Sundays.

• Stewardship:

The Stewardship team helps our members discern their contribution to the church, both by pledging their financial commitment and ways they can serve the community with their time and talent.  If you are interested in helping with the Stewardship team, please contact Rob Krupicka.
