Children-Sunday School

Here at Hope Church we don’t just see children as the future of the church. We see them as a vital part of our community. Our children bring a fresh sense of wonder and awe, disruption and creativity, love and caring into our midst — and we celebrate that.  Jesus welcomed the children and blessed them.  In His name we seek to do the same for the children and youths we encounter every Sunday morning.

Sunday School

This begins with our Children’s Message during worship, when the children come forward to learn about God and to pray. After the Children’s Message, all children ages 12 and under are invited to join us downstairs for Sunday school. We have two Sunday school classes. Our Preschool Class for ages 2-5 meets in the classroom/playroom suite while our Elementary Age Class for children 6-12 meets on the other side of our fellowship hall in their own classroom.

We use the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum, which follows the lectionary that is used in the service upstairs. In Sunday School we eat together, sing together, play together, read together, and create and celebrate together. We learn about God and Jesus, the Bible, and the world around us. Using music, stories, drama, art, and other hands-on activities, we encounter God in ourselves and each other. And always we pray, learning to thank God and to ask for God’s blessings.

Learning to Give Back

Our children are also learning about giving back to the world through various mission activities including collecting school supplies for children here and abroad and collecting food for Thanksgiving baskets for local families in need.

Come join us as we learn together what it means to be a part of God’s community no matter what our age:

• Sunday Worship 10:30 am – Everyone starts in the sanctuary.
• After the Children’s Message portion of the service:
  • Childcare is available for ages 6 and under every week.
  • Sunday school classes for ages 12 and under are held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month.
    • Preschool children (2-5 years) meet in the classroom/playroom suite
    • Elementary ages children (6-12 years) meet on the other side of fellowship hall.
  • Teens remain in worship service
• All children return for Communion on the first Sunday of the month
• Everyone goes to Fellowship downstairs, after the worship service.
