Christian Education

At Hope, our mission is to educate our children, youth, and adults about the teachings and principles of Jesus Christ, the Bible, and other religious and social issues. We also provide opportunities for spiritual growth and faith development. To coordinate and carry out a dynamic Children and Youth Ministry that seeks to provide a radically inclusive welcome to all children and their families.

Ministry Team Leader: Sarah Crisman (Christian_Education@hopeucc.org)
Christian Education Director: Holly Jackson (Ed_Minister@hopeucc.org)

Sunday School

We have two separate Sunday School classes that both use the Seasons of the Spirit Curriculum.  More detailed information on Sunday School can be found on our Sunday School page.

Adult Education

At Hope UCC we don’t ask you to leave your mind at the door. As Progressive Christians we proclaim a faith that requires you to think, to engage, and to wrestle with ideas about God, Jesus, scripture and church dogma. On Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. we have been exploring what it means to truly Dream, Think, Be and Do our faith. We watch a thought provoking DVD, discuss our reactions, look at scripture, and find ways to live out of the questions of our faith. Watch a sample clip and see the list of topics below.

These are the topics in the series: Check the calendar for this week’s topic.

DREAM - Faith as Journey - Stories of Creation - Reconciliation - Jesus - Risk
THINK - Thinking Theologically - Taking the Bible Seriously - Evil & Suffering - Violence - Rapture & Revelation
BE - A Kingdom without Walls - God’s Vision - Prayer - Creativity - Mystery
DO- Incarnation - Compassion - Politics - Passion (Paul) - Resurrection

New Member/Inquiry Class

For those who are interested in learning more about Hope UCC, we offer an Inquiry class that runs at various times throughout the year before service on Sunday mornings. In this class, participants will learn more about Hope Church and the UCC denomination. This is a great time for fellowship and discussion.  We have a class beginning Sunday, April 26.  Click here for more information.

Camp Hope

Each summer we have a 5-day Bible camp for children called Camp Hope. This is often the most memorable event of the year for the children — and for many adults! This year Hope blasts off into Outer Space. It will be held July 12-16, 2010.  Kids of all ages are welcome. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Holly Jackson at Ed_Minister@hopeucc.org or Sarah Crisman at Christian_Education@hopeucc.org.
